I was invited to do my first live painting on my 30th Birthday and began shortly after. Sitting alone in a room painting for hours on end alone is not what I desired, so as I began live panting, letting go of my stage fright, I learned to channel energy from my surroundings.
When Live Painting I either plan a design and sequence to paint in, to make a performance, other times I will feel the energy around me and free flow paint onto canvas what I am experiencing. I paint with brush, hands, pallet knife, applying paint by stroking, flicking, dripping, scraping, squirting…and I’m starting to get the hang of dancing while painting too.
I paint where I can, beginning at open mics, leading to events, gigs and festivals. Now I also paint in public spaces, capturing energy from all kinds of spaces in time.
